2020 will go down in recent history as an incomprehensible year. And we still don't know if it will just remain as an uncomfortable and sad period in our lives or whether it will mark the beginning of change.
And it would hardly be another change in our long journey, since it is not the first time that human beings have faced this type of event. Dealing with the ice ages had to be very stressful, to say the least. As well as various epidemics, wars or natural disasters.
All these metamorphoses were suffered, faced and overcome by our ancestors who were able to successfully adapt to the new circumstances. The key to triumph in the face of adversity is obvious; knowledge. Not only that which they acquired through their own expertise, but also that inherited from their precedents in the form of innate knowledge. A knowledge stored, by our prodigious biology, in the tonsils, and which has reached our modern brains enriched by the wisdom of thousands and thousands of previous generations.
The new situation in 2020 and its continuous challenges have led us to once again use this small almond-shaped organ that treasures the testimony of those who were there. It awakens us, alerts us and prepares us to conquer this new age.
However, this is only the warm-up for tackling the race. Studying, observing, measuring, inventing, testing, checking, in short, KNOWING, is the only thing that will make us cross the finish line with greatness.
In all fields, facets, dimensions, slopes. Knowledge is always what gets us out of the quagmire.
Our profession does not escape this reality and, although the wickers are different, we have the knowledge, the tools and the creativity to continue braiding them.
The vineyard, the process, marketing, trends, everything counts. But the ingredient that will make your wine truly unique is in you, in your talent, your judgment and your wisdom. You are the terroir.
For this reason we present you with SAPIENTIA 2020 , a tribute to the people who work in the process of creating a wine. Without the ingenuity and intelligence of the creators of wine, our sector would not be the same.
